//OUR BRAND NAME - MEMENTO VIVERE//
The brand name is taken from a Latin phrase that I love very much - "MEMENTO MORI. MEMENTO VIVERE."
"MEMENTO MORI" means "Remember that you must die";
"MEMENTO VIVERE" is the opposite, which means "Remember that you must live".
The meaning of this phrase is very quintessential and thought-provoking. When thinking about death, we are also truly thinking about live.
I was deeply impressed when I learned the meaning of this phrase, especially after suffering from depression. I had never thought that I would be trapped by depression after living 1/3 of my life. Being sick makes me lose motivation, I even lost interest in handcrafting and paintings which are my favourites, all my passions for creation are disappeared. Every time I am emotionally trapped and struggling to die, I will think of this phrase and then think - I will lose all the people and things I treasure if I die.
Although countless emotional lows have tortured me to pieces, but I am lucky to have people who love and care about me. Their support gives me the courage to live, which means a lot and is more precious than anything else.
I decided to face it and hold on because I don’t want to lose what I cherish. Since we will die at the end, we must live in the present, enjoy and cherish the serendipity in our life.
I created this brand while I am overcoming depression. Society generally believes that moths are scary creatures that represent "bad omen", "endings" and "death". Its arrival is a sign of something unfortunate about to happen, but moths also represent "change", "transformation" and "rebirth".
Moths are often seen as symbols of angels from heaven or spiritual guides, even in the Bible. Most cultures believe that spirits can influence moths, and when the moths reveal themselves, they have a message to convey to the chosen spirit.
Many cultures view moth as a metaphor for a positive transformation in your life, one that will lead to new spiritual wisdom. In ancient mythology, moths were associated with transformation, where the caterpillar was seen as a symbol of rebirth. When a caterpillar becomes a moth, it loses its old self, but it gains the ability to fly.
In Christianity, moths are seen as symbols of spiritual transformation and healing. Most moths are nocturnal and will hover around bright objects, they have phototaxis that is attracted to bright light. The moth therefore represents great change, but it also seeks light.
In spiritual terms, the meaning of the moth is believe in the changes that are taking place, believe that freedom and liberation are just around the corner. Just like a moth instinctively following light, we need to follow the guidance inside our heart and trust the light within - Our own intuition. Sometimes we are trying to resolve a difficult situation but not sure where to seek help, the presence of the moth encourages us to trust the process of letting go so that we can move on.
Therefore, we take the moth as the brand logo, meaning that change is coming, trust our intuition, transform and reborn.
